In order to help our client realize their dream of a vineyard property in the Napa Valley, we worked with Field Architecture to locate this stunning, linear compound of contemporary agrarian buildings on a shelf of rock at the edge of the forested slope, freeing up as much prime terroir as possible. Dubbed ‘Sentinel Ridge’ by the owner, the compound marks the transition from open, level and sunny vineyard to steep, shaded oak forest.
Builder Grassi & Associates tread lightly and managed to complete the construction without disturbing the native rock outcroppings or forest literally feet away from the building envelope. Landscape contractor Dexter Estate Landscapes installed our design of placed boulders, grassy meadows, native trees and shrubs to stitch the new construction into the fabric of the site.
