Trainor Residence

Calistoga, California

Approximately half of this seven-acre site north of Calistoga is oak and fir woodland. The residence, with rural vernacular exterior finishes that include board-formed concrete, cedar siding, and overhead trellises, sits at the base of a small slope. The open landscape plan and pool area take advantage of views to the neighboring horse farm, and the wooded Calistoga hills beyond.

The guest unit sits in a wooded setting at the opposite side of the property, with a  meeting place under a large oak with a serpentine seat wall, a fire pit and a small pond with dock between.

We are now working with the new owners of the property to add a new entry gate, screening along the road frontage, a bocce court, a play lawn, and a system of walking and biking pathways throughout the property.
